Deirdre Orem Certifications: CrossFit Level 1&2 Trainer, CF Gymnastics, CF Endurance, CF Kettlebell, Adapted Athlete Sick of her boring routine at the local rec center (cardio, free weights, abs, repeat), Deirdre tried CrossFit for the first time in 2011. She was hooked immediately – challenging new movements, a different workout every day and an amazing community of people to work out with. In 2013, Deirdre got certified to coach hoping to spread her excitement for all things fitness related to others. There is still nothing quite like the rush of hearing 3, 2, 1…GO! Helping people achieve their goals and inspiring a continued passion for health and fitness is what the MVCF community is all about.

Knute Adcock Certifications: CrossFit Level 1 and 2 Trainer, CF Gymnastics Knute found Crossfit in 2011 after stumbling upon an Alabama gym calling itself a "box." Their focus on "constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity" was the simple fitness prescription destined to replace his previous (and as he says, boring) workout regime. As an Air Force pilot Knute brings a philosophy of self-discipline and compartmentalized focus to his instruction. And as a father of 3 from teenager to toddler, Knute has mastered the art of patient, situation-specific "coercion." He'll motivate you to reach your fitness potential, and promises his workouts will never be boring again. * "Retired" Air Force Pilot

Andrew McDermott Certifications: CF Level 1, CF Level 2 Andy is a pedestrian CrossFitter at best since he found CrossFit in December of 2011. His knowledge as a coach is second only to Coach Glassman himself.  Consider yourself beyond lucky to be in one of his classes, because you will smile and at the very least chuckle once in your training day.  You might even work out, who knows.  Andy, surprisingly, has his L2 in addition to his L1 and specializes at using curse words to elicit maximum effort from his athletes. Aside from his humor and ability to connect with everyone, he brings a great deal of experience and perspective based on his years spent at CrossFit South Arlington and time spent with Power Athlete coaches.

Nicole Ward Certifications : CrossFit Level 1 I was first introduced to CrossFit in September 2011, when my husband JT heard of a new gym opening that was offering a free one month trial and hosting a pre-grand opening wod to honor fallen soldiers. He went - and then started dragging me with him - and the rest is history. I've been hooked ever since. Coming from a fitness background that consisted of high school sports (volleyball, basketball, track) then primarily running and yoga, CrossFit was a breath of fresh air. The best thing about CrossFit is that it feels like a game. I know when I get into the gym I'm going to give it my all in order to prove to myself that I can do a little more than I thought I could. I strive to help athletes to be the best versions of themselves and I enjoy watching as people see their hard work pay off. Whether your goal is to compete, get your body in its best shape or just to feel less guilty about the burger and fries you will be eating for lunch, I hope to be a guide in helping you succeed!

JT Certifications: Law Enforcement Wellness Instructor, CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2), CF Anatomy Certificate, CF Judge 2018 Certificate, CF Mobility Certificate, CF Scaling Certificate, United States Army Special Operations Combat Vet (Special Forces), 8 years of SWAT experience. JT was first introduced to Crossfit after returning from an overseas deployment in 2011. JT’s body and overall health were a mess from the poor nutrition, lack of adequate rest, and inability to train properly (all the things many are faced with during a combat deployment). JT just so happened to stumble across a new Crossfit gym that was opening in the area. JT tried the 1st month for free and was hooked shortly thereafter. JT obtained his Level 1 Cert in 2012 and began coaching at the gym he initially started training at. Shortly after obtaining his cert, JT was tasked with implementing a wellness program at work. The results for the wellness program paid off and the once obscure wellness program actually became a Crossfit affiliate. JT enjoys watching people obtain their goals and wants to give every bit of knowledge and energy he has to the patrons of Mount Vernon Crossfit.

Matvei Sigalov Certifications: CrossFit Level 1 Matvei discovered CrossFit at a tender age of 35. He was a runner (4-5 times a week) and a regular, bored out of his mind, gym goer. Having lost about 60 pounds of extra weight, that he gained since moving to the US in 2000, he considered myself to be in great shape. First week at Outlaw Crossfit, in May of 2010, proved him wrong, to put it mildly. Sure, he was skinny, but that was about it. He couldn't do one thing right. Snatches seemed like something unattainable - he couldn't even overhead squat with a PVC pipe. Handstand push-ups - not a chance. The list was long. But what attracted him and eventually got him hooked was the fact the routine was gone and now he was dealing with things that one can spend a lifetime trying to perfect ( unlike bicep curls, for example ). It has been over 8 years now, he keeps improving and his numbers are still going up. Coaching was the next step. Matvei was encouraged to get certified by one of his coaches and after three years of being a client he became a coach.
